Hi Q Brown Algae Life Square: A Unique Exhibition Center

Connecting Nature and Innovation

The Hi Q Brown Algae Life Square, designed by Chun Ying Lai, is a groundbreaking exhibition center that combines the experience of brown algae with social services. With its innovative design and seamless integration of various spaces, this project sets a new standard for modern exhibition centers.

The exhibition center on the first floor serves as an experience area where visitors can explore and purchase a range of products, including fresh ingredients, facial masks, health supplements, pet medicines, and food. The designer, Chun Ying Lai, used simple and gentle colors, along with beautiful organic curved lines, to create a space that allows the essence of the ocean to flow in an abstract form. This reestablishes conventional colors and cognition associated with the ocean, while accurately showcasing the unique characteristics of the products on display.

The walls of the exhibition center are adorned with diatomite imitation coating, creating a detailed texture and intriguing visual changes. Accompanied by seaweed patterns, these walls contribute to a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. In the restaurant, a reception counter made of special gold glaze glass and imported wallpaper resembling layered rocks and splashing ink adds a touch of natural beauty.

One of the standout features of the Hi Q Brown Algae Life Square is the incorporation of brown algae molecules into the design. Drawing inspiration from the R&D personnel who extract fucoidan with molecular science technology, the designer used woodworks and latches to imitate the shape of brown algae molecules. These structures are then suspended using steel bars, paying tribute to the trail-blazing research and development technology behind the products.

The Hi Q Brown Algae Life Square not only showcases innovative design but also provides a unique and interactive experience. The transition area between the staircases features the original structure of the building, complemented by a highly penetrating wooden grille glass window that introduces abundant natural light. A row of neatly arranged bamboo forest adds a poetic and beautiful scene. In support of Taiwanese students' cultural creativity, light blue lacquered glass walls serve as display walls, creating a painting-like scene with white frames.

This project was completed in May 2019 in Songshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan. The designer, Chun Ying Lai, conducted extensive research to capture the key elements of the ocean and used various methods to highlight each area while maintaining a cohesive overall theme. The Hi Q Brown Algae Life Square expresses the company's innovation, commitment, and pursuit through creative aesthetic interpretations.

The Hi Q Brown Algae Life Square was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Hi Q Brown Algae Life Square truly embodies these qualities, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
